The Institute aims to catalyze social transformations at the scale of what ‘Aadhaar’ and the ‘White Revolution’ have enabled, with a focus on building dignified and resilient livelihoods for urban and rural poor.

About the role:

This role is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a team solving problems for urban street vendors living in poverty and contribute towards a poverty-free India. 

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct regular field visits in Bangalore and other cities for the purpose of qualitative and quantitative research
  • Responsible for on ground execution of program activities engaging with street vendors, their customers, suppliers and other stakeholders (including mobilization and onboarding of participants, building rapport and trust, facilitating group meetings of participants, enabling financial and digital literacy, helping street vendors get a vendor registration and other necessary licenses and documentation etc.)
  • Collect data for program monitoring and analyze data gathered during field visits
  • Work with team members to refine program design and execution activities based on field observations and additional research and analysis
  • Learn from the work of other organizations that have similar programs

Apply if you have:

  • 1-3 years of experience working on ground with underprivileged urban communities
  • have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work (or psychology, sociology); other educational background is welcome if you have relevant work experience
  • based in Bangalore and speak fluent Kannada along with Hindi and English
  • ability to empathize and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds; you like talking to people and you are a good listener. You can build rapport and trust with people quickly
  • high ownership and commitment for solving social problems
  • strong desire to learn a lot and work hard to make program successful
