The/Nudge Institute is working with UPSRLM -PRERNA to provide the technical input and the strategic support for the promotion of rural livelihoods centered around the small livestock management, focused on the Backyard Poultry and Goatery. 


Position Summary

The Livestock Expert-Poultry position would help the Learning and Development team develop training manuals and impart training to the field staff and SGH members. This role  would also be responsible for providing technical support to the program. The position also requires extensive field visits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and document training modules and impart training to field staff and SHG members taking up poultry activity as income generating source.

  • Support other team members with the technical input for them to incorporate technical components of poultry specially Backyard poultry.

  • Demystify technical aspects of poultry and incorporate in the SoP and PoP as per Backyard poultry context.

  • Adopt technology to reach out to field staff and poultry rearers in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Through regular field visits, and discussion with the community, understand and forecast the potential challenges and develop plans to address the challenges in advance.

  • Use data to analyze the production parameter and develop a system of intervention based out of that. 

  • Ensure the supply of quality chicks, feed and medicine in the field.  

  • Submit a monthly report of activities undertaken, adequately detailing challenges faced and corrective action taken, and also submit a plan for the forthcoming month. 

  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the organization from time to time.


Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Graduate/Post-graduate qualifications in veterinary science from a recognised institute.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in poultry production system.

  • Experience on working with backyard poultry would be an added advantage.

  • Good understanding of poultry value chains  and a willingness to learn and innovate. Must share an urgency about development and a commitment for the delivery of a high-quality program in a time-bound manner.

  • Proficient with MS Office, especially in MS Excel and/or Database Management.

  • Willingness to travel extensively in the desired blocks/field areas that comes under the project districts.
